This is it

We are always waiting for the perfect opportunity.
It almost never happens.
You’re probably working on a job or project right now and saying,
‘This is boring, let’s just deal with it and get it over with.
We’ll make the next one good.’
Whatever is on your desk right now, that’s the one.
Make THIS the best you possibly can.
It may not be great, but at least you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you did the best you possibly could, and you may learn something from it.
And you’re always free to do an alternative that does satisfy your creative standards.
Great opportunities don’t just come along.
That’s true, even if you’ve earned a reputation for doing good work (although that helps).
Give your very best – all the time!
If you want to do something great? Here is the key.

Whoever can be trusted with a little can also be trusted with a lot, and whoever is dishonest with a little is dishonest with a lot. Luke 16:10
Be faithful in the little things!
Make this year a year of being faithful in the small things.
The things that are not seen by others.
The hard work no one will ever thank you.

Successful solutions are often made by people
rebelling against bad opportunities.

Oh My God!

“Risk great things for God, and God will do great things.” – William Carey

“Oh my God”, I cried out, “Something like this may not happen a second time! I will not survive it!” What had happened?

One Sunday I had invited a friend to come to church with me. I could feel his tension; he hadn’t entered a church service for many years. I was sitting next to him with a thankful heart, because God had answered my prayers and my friend finally came to church with me. After the service was over, I asked him: “How did you like it?”
He turned to me with an angry face and said: “Don’t you ever do this again! I haven’t seen such a boring, lifeless, irrelevant and unprofessional performance in a long time. I would rather sleep in my bed than in these chairs here. Don’t you ever invite me to a church service again!”

My joy vanished in less than a second and turned into frustration, but I did not give up, so I asked him: “Is it the faith in God that made you upset?” – “No,” he said, with a now more sad tone in his voice, “it is the style of the church, the sound and style of the music, the atmosphere, and how the people interact with each other.” I knew exactly what he was talking about; I told him that I was sincerely sorry about it.
That night I couldn’t go to sleep for hours. His words were hurting me. I knew that his criticism had hit the bulls eye.

I cried to God: “Why is church the most boring place on earth for many people? What has changed in church that so many people are afraid of it?”

This experience set a godly, radical energy free in me. A church is put together of very many different kinds of people. It could become the most attractive and interesting place on earth with God changing lives if only everyone would serve by using their personal talents. Then the church would have that unlimited power, which would spread sparks of hope.

“The world will thank you, if you try something new.” – Anselm Grün

Out of this and other similar experiences, ICF was founded.
Now I want to bring this kind of church to Cambodia.
Support our family with prayer during this transition time.

Making Vision Stick

Andy Stanley, founding and lead pastor of North Point Community Church. He has written a must-read book – Making Vision Stick- for leader/communicators. The first thing I love about the book is that it’s only 74 pages long. If all books were as short, I’d be able to read a lot more books! Here are some of my favorite quotes:

One of the greatest challenges is making vision stick. Vision doesn’t have much adhesive. To get people to sit still long enough to understand your vision is hard enough. But to get them to actually organize their lives around it is supremely difficult. The urgent and legitimate needs of today quickly erase our commitment to the what could be of tomorrow. It’s the leader’s responsibility to ensure that people understand and embrace the vision of the organization.

5 things you can do to increase the adhesiveness of your vision

1. State the vision simply. if your vision is going to stick in people’s minds, it must be memorable. People don’t remember or embrace paragraphs. They remember and embrace sentences. And, If the vision is too complicated, nothing changes.

2. Cast the vision convincingly. In this section, Andy says leaders must define the problem, offer a solution, and present a reason for the solution. He writes …

Every vision is a solution to a problem. Buy-in by others hinges on your ability to convince them you are offering a solution to a problem they are convinced needs to be solved.

A leader points the way to a solution and gives a compelling reason why something must be done now.

3. Repeat the vision regularly. Continue reading Making Vision Stick

Exercise For Success

Think of the pursuit of your dream as being like a major athletic event.

Don’t “wait-for-it” – Train for it

As you prepare and “exercise,” you will get stronger—mentally, emotionally, and physically.

To successfully achieve your dream, you need to keep improving.
The best way to do that is to …

  • Keep your body fit.
  • Keep your heart flexible.
  • Keep your mind open.
  • Keep your comfort zone expanding.

If you train hard, you’ll not only be hard, you’ll be hard to beat.

What Is A Disciple?

Blog auf Deutsch.

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?
As you will discover, the answer is fairly simple, but it changes your life completely. The word disciple refers to a student or apprentice. Disciples in Jesus s day would follow their rabbi (which means teacher) wherever he went, learning from the rabbi’s teaching and being trained to do as the rabbi did.

Basically, a disciple is a follower, but only if we take the term follower literally. Becoming a disciple of Jesus is as simple as obeying His call to follow. When Jesus called His first disciples, they may not have understood where Jesus would take them or the impact it would have on their lives, but they knew what it meant to follow.

4 social media tips to send your business off to achieve social media success:

1) Strategy
First, decide which social networks make most sense for your company. It’s better to have a limited, strategic presence on social media than to be everywhere without purpose.

Define your desired goals. For example, do you have the goal of growing your Facebook community? If so, you should be brainstorming content, promotions, and posts that will attract your target customer.

2) Respond
Assigning an intern to manage the social media channels a few hours per week is simply not enough anymore. Your online community expects to receive responses to inquiries in a timely manner (typical accepted response time is within 24 hours). If you aren’t willing to invest the time and money it takes to respond to your online followers, then you probably shouldn’t be on social media.

Customers want to know someone is listening. The simple task of responding speaks volumes to your customer service. If you don’t have the answer and need some time to find it, let that person know that you have seen their question and you are working to get the answer for them. Impossible Is Only An Opinion

Most people don’t aim too high and miss. They aim too low and hit. Bob Moawad

English:

There isn’t one person in a thousand who can write down his or her most exciting dreams without at the same time telling themselves that “it’s probably impossible.”
The truth is, virtually anything is possible—nothing is too good to be true.
What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail? Write down a dream that you would love to pursue if you absolutely knew you could attain it. (It may be more doable than you think.)

Trading a Paper Clip for a House

Thinking big, Kyle MacDonald started small—with a paperclip to be exact. He posted it on Craigslist as a barter and got a fish-shaped pen for it. He then traded the pen for something better. One trade led to another and another, until MacDonald finally found himself the new owner of a three-bedroom house.
Give yourself permission to aim high in work and life.
I never thought I would write a book. My teachers told me as a kid: “ND, you can’t write!”.

The Hard And Right Thing

How should I feel if the hardest thing is also the right thing to do.

Do I bully through?
Stay quiet and exept the facts?
Fight forward?
Expect others to help me?
Become a lonley ranger?
Forget everyone around me and focus only on my mission?
Ignore the pain and pretend I’m a hero?

6 Steps To An Uncluttered Life

Notebook

Keep a notebook (electronic or paper) to write down thoughts, things you learned and things you want to remember. When you write things down, you let your mind off the hook, giving it more room for things like problem-solving or spontaneous creativity.

Simplify

Seriously—how much do you really need?
The more you have, the more time and money you have to spend taking care of it. People tend to buy things to give them a better lifestyle, but what they really create is a cluttered live that drains their energy.

Schedule

Scheduling actually simplifies life a lot. Continue reading 6 Steps To An Uncluttered Life
