Swiss National Day

Since 1291 Switzerland celebrates it’s independence day.

The date is is inspired by the date of the Federal Charter of 1291, placed in “early August”

1 August was declared an official national holiday. It is today celebrated each year with town-wide paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags and fireworks.

I have been born and raised in Switzerland. I love this country and am thankful for being able to live here!

5 Things I love about Switzerland (Politicly)

  1. Strong and direct democratic attitude
  2. Discussions are viewed as knowledge exchange
  3. Everyone has a right to speak their mind – anywhere!
  4. A good sense of respect even if someone has a different view
  5. Discussions are well founded through a long process of talks and redefining

5 things I dislike about Switzerland (Politicly)

  1. Neutrality is used as an excuse not to act
  2. There is to much talk and not enough action
  3. Stubbornness gets in the way of having an open mind to new ideas
  4. Criticizing other nations for their politics
  5. Narrow-mindedness

What I like most about August 1st is… that my wife is born that day.
