Swiss National Day
Since 1291 Switzerland celebrates it’s independence day.
The date is is inspired by the date of the Federal Charter of 1291, placed in “early August”
1 August was declared an official national holiday. It is today celebrated each year with town-wide paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags and fireworks.
I have been born and raised in Switzerland. I love this country and am thankful for being able to live here!
5 Things I love about Switzerland (Politicly)
- Strong and direct democratic attitude
- Discussions are viewed as knowledge exchange
- Everyone has a right to speak their mind – anywhere!
- A good sense of respect even if someone has a different view
- Discussions are well founded through a long process of talks and redefining
5 things I dislike about Switzerland (Politicly)
- Neutrality is used as an excuse not to act
- There is to much talk and not enough action
- Stubbornness gets in the way of having an open mind to new ideas
- Criticizing other nations for their politics
- Narrow-mindedness
What I like most about August 1st is… that my wife is born that day.
