How To Create Photo Art With An iPhone

I love to take photos with my iPhone 4. Many people have asked me how I edit my pics.
If you follow these instructions, you too will create art with your iPhone.

It takes two skills for a great shot.

A photographic eye and the right editing tools.

5 Steps to a great photo

Step 1: Look for a shot with potential. This is something hard to explain, but look for structure and contrast. For example: when I see clouds like this, I know this will turn out great. I notice the wet ground and a eye catching plain in front of a far away background.

1

Step 2: I take all my pics in the Camera+ App. Use it and you will see why. I often take multiple shots of the same thing. this gives me later the ability to select the best one.

2

Step 3: Select Carity form the Scene mode, this will bring out more structure and contrast from your photo. Notice the wet ground in front of the airplane. In most cases this will give the photo the first kick to become a great pic. Try out other Scenes if you don’t like what happens with Clarity.

3

Step 4: Add some Effects to make your photo more interesting. You can adjust the level of the effect by sliding your finger. I usually never have the effect at 100%. In this case I slide it back to 50%. Don’t worry if the colors are off at this stage. We’ll get to that later. Safe your photo from the Lightbox.

4

Step 5: Open your photo into the best editing app. Snapseed.  Here you start with TUNE IMAGE and set the parameters to make the photo look the way you want it. Add some DETAILS and a touch of DRAMA. Don’t forget to give it a bit of TILT & SHIFT to create more depth.

End

This is what you come out with. Decide for yourself how you want your photo to look like. Take a shot and start creating art. I believe in taking what is good and making it great.
That’s our calling on this planet.

Before After

Bonus: After more editing with the LensLight and the Instagram App. my photo looked like this:

View from the airport to the Albanian mountains.
