Leaders are communicators!
Communicate, communicate, and then communicate some more. Bob Nelson
5 keys to effective communication
1. Make it personal
The more personal you get, the more attention you get. Nobody want’s to be one of a million. If it’s personal, it will interest me, if it’s not, it’s just an article with information in a newspaper.
2. Make it trustworthy
Whatever you communicate, make sure it’s true! Liars don’t get much attention in the long run. The small amount of truth to back your message gives it more power and attention.
3. Make it brief
Keep it to the point and simple! Communicate only the big picture/vision and don’t worry if it’s not complete. People tend to ask questions anyway.
Quality matters, quantity not! Gregor Braun
I try to just communicate what I want done as clearly and simply as possible. Dick Wolf
4. Make it emotional
Information gets the most attention if it’s emotional! Think about what emotional aspect you can add to your way of communication as well as your content. Feelings stick longer than information!
5. Make it beneficial
Have the audience in mind and think from their perspective. What will they get out of it? How will it benefit them? How will they grow, save, learn, …?
I wanted to communicate what I had seen, so that others could see it. Laurie Lee
